A Prayer for the Day

Last Sunday night, Mark Knackstedt led us in prayer. It seems a very suitable prayer for us on the the day of the Queen’s Funeral. So here it is…

Our Father in heaven, we bow before You, our great and glorious King. All power and authority belongs to You and we thank You that You have chosen to establish a kingdom. In perfect justice, You could have written off the human race and left us to the ruin of our rebellion. But in love and mercy, You chose to bring all who believe into Your kingdom. We are so thankful, and gladly embrace You as our Lord and our King.

Father, we pray that Your reign may be seen more clearly in our lives. Forgive us for the complacency with which we have given room to sins in our lives that have no place in Your kingdom. May the truth of Your Word sanctify us today.

In the Lord’s prayer we say Thy Kingdom Come-- we pray for More of God on Earth.

My Father, who art in heaven, I submit myself to you as the ruler of my life. All I have is yours, Lord. Help me to live according to your rules. Establish your kingdom here on earth, Lord, so others may know you, too. May your kingdom spread throughout our land and bring more of you to this world so in need in your loving rule. Help me to be faithful in helping advance your kingdom here. Show me the path you have set before me, so I may follow in your way. Lord, may thy kingdom come.

We give thanks for the life of your servant Queen Elizabeth and many other of your servants. We give thanks for her and their faith and dedication to duty. We pray for all our leaders that they may set an example as she did which can continue to inspire us.

God of love,
We thank you for the life of The Queen, and all lives of believers you take home to your Kingdom. For their service to their people and for their faith in you.

Everlasting God,
We pray for our new King, Charles III and all leaders in our lives, work and church life. Bless their leadership and their reign and the lives of those they lead. Help us to work together with our leader so that truth and justice, harmony and fairness and love flourish among us.

Compassionate God,
Queen Elizabeth and numerous others in this season are mourned for their roles as a mother, Grandmother and great grandmother, friend and confidant.
Give courage to the Royal Family but also to all families for strength in their loss and sorrow. Reassure them of your continuing love
And lift them into the peace and light of your presence.

Heavenly Father, hear our prayers and bring Your comfort;
Renew our trust in your Kingdom with Jesus, whom You raised from the dead;
Strengthen our faith that those who die in the love of Jesus will share in His resurrection and your Kingdom; We pray these things through Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
